It's finally confirmed! The rumours that leaked about Sony and Marvel trying to reach a deal for Spider-Man have finally come to fruition, and news has broken that Spider-Man will be coming to the Marvel Film Universe!
While many details are still unknown, it is confirmed that Marvel and Sony have reached a deal to share Spider-Man. Spider-Man will be showing up in Marvel's films, his first appearance speculated to be in time for Civil War according to the Wall Street Journal.
It is highly likely that Andrew Garfield will not be returning and that the role will be recast. While Marvel will be having Spidey in their films, Sony will still be making stand-alone Spider-Man movies, and seems to now be delaying and rethinking their initial strategy for Sinister Six and other spin-off films. The good news is that Marvel's own producers will be involved in any film Sony does to help steer the course.
It will likely make sense that Sony will be going off of Marvel's lead by having them define Spider-Man in one of their films, then basing a solo film after the fact. Marvel is also shifting things around and rescheduling their films in light of this development.
So this is big and fantastic news for everyone! I'm that much more excited now! Check out the links below for more information!
