Fans of the Metal Gear Solid games will be pleased to know that the North American release date for the next PSP game has been revealed to be May 25th 2010. A lot sooner than expected!
The game is being directed by series creator Hideo Kojima and the KojiPro staff that delivered 'Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.' The new title 'Peace Walker' is being created with an all-new engine for the PSP portable system and Kojima and his team are really pushing the graphical capabilities to new heights! An English language demo is promised to be made available in due time.
This new game takes place in the story timeline after the events of the PS2 game 'Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater' and it's portable sequel on PSP, 'Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops' and shows the events which precede the first original game 'Metal Gear' released on the MSX. Players will play as the character 'Big Boss' either by themselves on solo missions or through 4-Player co-op. You can check out the latest trailer here:
The game brings back comic book artist Ashley Wood who illustrated the animated cutscenes in 'Portable Ops' and this time teams him together with the game series' concept artist Yoji Shinkawa. Together they blend and imitate each others styles to create the new cutscenes and illustrations for 'Peace Walker' which in similar fashion to 'Portable Ops' will also have their artwork animated through a limited style, and this time, some of their artwork scenes will even be interactive!
Anyone interested in the art of Metal Gear can find artbooks by both Yoji Shinkawa and Ashley Wood available at our store.
We also have Ashley Wood's comic book adaptations of 'Metal Gear Solid' and 'Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty' along with his other comics & artbooks.
