Dave Pimentel Talks Walt Stanchfield Gesture Drawing
The New Stanchfield books Drawn to Life 1 and 2 have proven popular since they arrived. Lots of folks out there who have not yet looked at the books might be thinking - 1 of these is about animals and one about people. This is not the case. Both books look at Gesture drawings -or the core life of any drawing. Each book can be read in any order -as the books are broken up by topic, and each topic features multiple articles that examine that topic. You can read book 2 first, or book 1. It doesn't matter. They both came out on the same day.
If I had to guess why there are two books, it would be that 1 fat book might be too expensive. In my opinion the publisher decided that it could keep the price point low for those who might want the information without scaring them away by putting out 2 books instead of one massive volume. Still at 400 pages each, they are a great value. At the end of the day however, both books are a must read for anyone interested in animation, life drawing and such.
Dave Pimentel has a great blog post about Stanchfield and why he was so highly regarded.
