With more animation moving towards digital and of course 3D, would Japanese animation lose the style that its traditionally hand drawn look is loved for? Well with the passage of time, studios have been using cell shading techniques to try and bring CG closer to that of traditional hand drawn aesthetics. Studio Khara, the studio behind the Evangelion re-build films, has found a good balance between using CG and hand-drawn animation that really blends well together. Recently they created a trailer for a Level 5 videogame called 'Majin Station' that utilizes their cel shading method to create an entirely CG work that comes very close to resembling traditional hand drawn anime! You can see the results for yourself below that are quite remarkable!
