86 Plots

Austin-based co-authors Colin Bryan and Emily Kieson have teamed up with established Marvel and DC artist Kelsey Shannon (Hulk: Broken Worlds, Batman Adventures, Executive Assistant Iris) to create a Lone Star State horror story. Bryan said, "I wanted to do my own take on Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and I wanted to mix that with a history-filled mystery." The end result is their planned graphic novel 86 Plots: The team is looking for $35,000 by Nov. 2 to finish it, and is using www.kickstarter.com to raise the cash.

It is basically a mix of Sherlock Holmes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Scooby-Doo. The artist and colorist is Kelsey Shannon; his credits include Batman Adventures, X-Men Unlimited, Bastard Samurai, Invincible, and many more. REDLINE at Toronto After Dark Film Festival

As another anime film festival heads up, the anticipated Madhouse film 'REDLINE' will be playing soon in Toronto next month!

"The 2009 anime film Redline will be shown at the 6th annual Toronto After Dark Film Festival. The event will run from October 20 to 27, and screenings will be held at the Toronto Underground Cinema. Redline is the only anime movie in the festival's initial eight-film lineup. Event organizers will release a complete listing of movies and screening times later this month."

Max Overacts

If you enjoy Calvin and Hobbes, or Peanuts, or even the sense of humor of Roger Langridge's Muppet Show books, then you might be interested in checking out 'Max Overacts.' The first volume collects the webcomic which centres around the life of Max Fogherty, an emerging serious thespian at the age of 8. It was nominated for a 2011 Eisner Award, and has a larger story developing underneath the daily gags.
